Special Black History Month Concert Scheduled!
The North Shore Concert Band’s Jazz Band presents an evening of big band music in celebration of Black History Month on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Tabernacle Church at 50 Washington Street in Salem.
The 17 piece Big Band consists primarily of members of the of our larger Concert Band, many of whom have had successful careers playing with local and internationally known jazz artists.
As part of Salem’s celebration of Black History Month the group will feature music composed or performed by such jazz greats as Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Lester Young, Miles Davis and the North Shore Concert Band’s own jazz trombonist, composer and arranger, Clifford Weeks. We are especially excited to present Cliff’s beautiful arrangements of classics from the Great American Songbook. Come enjoy some great music in a wonderful space that is the Tabernacle Church in beautiful downtown Salem.
This is a free show, and it’s sponsored by our friends at the Music Performance Trust Fund.
There will be a free will offering at the door to help offset our entire concert series, and any and all help is greatly appreciated!
