Dr. David W. Rox is a retired Professor
of Music and director of bands from Gordon College, where from 1981 – 2019 he
conducted many instrumental ensembles including the Wind Ensemble, Brass
Quintet, Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble. During this time, he also taught conducting,
trombone, and courses in music education. As a trombonist he has performed with
well-known artists such as The Gene Krupa Band, Rosemary Clooney, Red Buttons,
Pearl Bailey, Louis Bellson, Milt Hinton, Rose Marie, and many others. As a
conductor he has led ensembles throughout Europe and the United States,
including important venues in Boston, Quebec, Paris, London, Rome, Florence,
Cannes and Dublin. He is a past President of the New England College Band
Association and has appeared as guest conductor, adjudicator and clinician for
school festivals. In addition to his musical activities, he is actively
involved in church work in the North Shore as a lay leader and adult Bible
teacher. He is the author of the book, Switchbacks: Traveling God’s Zigzag
Path to our Destination. He and his wife, Margot, live in Rowley,
Massachusetts.
